Dilantha Malagamuwa, arguably the most renowned racing driver ever produced by Sri Lanka, took Aston Martin Asia Cup by storm when he clinched the first place of both Rounds III and IV. Though Malagamuwa couldn’t take the test sessions due to a mechanical problem he managed to take pole position. Round 3 was a piece of cake for the veteran driver who even slowed down a bit when he felt that he got hardly any competition against him. Tunku Hammam of Malaysia finished 2nd and Melvin Choo was 3rd.

This is the new Aston Martin V12 Vantage, and it has the potential to be one of the company’s greatest cars to enter its hardly shabby history books. The recipe is simple: take your smallest and lightest chassis and shoehorn into it (to the accompaniment of some polite British swearing) your biggest and most powerful engine. In this case, the result is an additional four cylinders, 90bhp and nearly £52k to Aston’s V8 Vantage. Big numbers – in every department, including that eye-watering price.

Aston Martin released these new images of the stunning One-77 after the recent Ville d’Este concours event in Italy. It was the first time Aston Martin had displayed a working example of the £1.2 million (€1.34 million) and it recieved an emphatic reception. It won the coveted ‘top design’ award, beating rivals such as the Bertone Mantide. Each car will be different and tailored to the owners own taste. The 7.3-litre V12 is said to produce around 700bhp and will, without a doubt, be the fastest Aston Martin to be produced to date.

Coming off a dominant win in Catalunya last April, Aston Martin Racing and its LMP1 racer continued their European Le Mans Series podium barrage with a third-place finish at last weekend's 1000KM at Spa race. In a race plagued with numerous wrecks, subsequent safety car periods, and mechanical failures (a full engine replacement was needed at one point), AM Racing's 007 car mechanics and drivers ultimately emerged on the podium in third place at race end.

Fresh from its debut Le Mans Series victory at the opening round of this year’s championship in Barcelona, Aston Martin Racing now heads to the legendary circuit of Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. Spa, the home of the Belgian Formula 1 Grand Prix, is renowned as one of the world’s greatest drivers’ circuits, featuring classic corners such as Eau Rouge and Blanchimont. At just over seven kilometres long, in the heart of the Ardennes mountains, the track is fast, twisty and hilly – and it is also subject to a unique microclimate that can make weather conditions extremely variable.

Aston Martin is considering a shock move into formula one if Bernie Ecclestone can keep his promise of providing £30m in aid to put three new teams on the grid. The chairman, David Richards, is expected to have talks with backers from the Middle East before deciding whether to launch a team with a sponsor's name or as Aston Martin but said yesterday that the possibility of a £30m cap on teams' budgets had got him interested.

A stunning exterior and beautiful coachwork mark the 2009 Aston Martin DB9 Volante. The standard 700-watt stereo system is good, and an available 1,000-watt Bang & Olufsen system is even better. A hard-drive-based navigation system works quickly, and the Bluetooth system shows cell phone contact lists. The bad: The ride is a little stiff, with no comfort settings, and the DB9 gulps gas. The navigation system LCD integration looks like a hack, and the overall electronics interface isn't well-integrated.

Aston Martin DB9 owners will soon have another option to spec their cars. Aston Martin and Bang & Olufsen have introduced the BeoSound DB9, a bespoke audio system developed and designed exclusively as an option for the DB9. The system was developed exclusively for Aston Martin to be perfectly matched to the DB9, both acoustically and physically. Activating the BeoSound DB9, Aston Martin says, would let the twin acoustic lens speakers emerge from either side of the dashboard.

Aston Martin's 700-horsepower One-77 is to cars as John Steed is to civil servants — a proper English gent quite capable of kicking your ass without so much as breaking a sweat.
