The thing we love most about image/graphics editing programs is that they allow you to explore the boundaries of your imagination. Anything is possible, even a Dodge Challenger version of the BMW M1 Homage Concept (see photos here) that was created by a Russian artist that goes by the nickname Remio. As weird as it may sound, not only do we find the end result convincing but as a matter of fact, we actually like the Dodge M1 or if you prefer, BMW Challenger.

Tiny ‘bubble cars’ that pack super-efficiency into small dimensions are nothing new to the automotive world, though they have all but disappeared in recent years. Now reports are beginning to speak of an alliance between Fiat and BMW that could yield the next-generation of 100mpg minicars, bearing names not used for decades.

The boss of BMW’s M division, Ludwig Willisch, has confirmed that performance variants of both the X5 and X6 SUVs are in development, and earlier today we saw a rendering of the X6 version along with several spy shots of prototypes at the Nurburging. Now we have a rendering of the X5 version, which is set to join the X6 M next year as a 2010 model.

We've only had a few months to get to know the new BMW M3, but the 2009 model has already gone under the knife. For 2009, the M3 sedan gets the revised taillights that originally debuted on the 328i and 335i, but the nip and tuck up front won't carry over as the M3's fascia different from its lesser siblings.

The BMW 6-Series is a lot of car, and while the 5.0-liter V10 in the M6 does a remarkable job of moving it around, critics have said it could use some help. Reports now indicate that the M division is giving it some help in the form of a new Competition Package.

BMW has been busy with the X3, too. The compact SUV benefits from some subtle revisions inside, with upgraded materials and fresh switchgear.
There are also two new limited-edition versions, badged Lifestyle and Exclusive, which get fresh alloy wheels, interior trim options, new body colours and storage boxes.

We’re used to seeing plenty of modified BMWs from the German tuners, but rarely do we see a Japanese customizer give the Teutonic saloons and coupes the aftermarket treatment. Wald International is one such tuner that specializes in the modification of some of Europe’s finest, with kits available for cars like the Bentley Continental GT, Mercedes S-Class and now the BMW M5.

AutoExpress' artists worked their magic on the next generation BMW Z4 and even though the exterior is more appealing than its predecessor, what lies beneath the evolved flame-surfacing has us aching to get behind the wheel.
As reported before, the next Z4 will feature a retractable hard top, but a cloth roof will continue to be offered on entry-level models.

Those in attendance at the German Grand Prix this past weekend were also treated to a revival of the M1 Procar series that originally raced in support of the F1 schedule in 1979 and 1980. The original series featured the five fastest F1 drivers in the Friday practice session in addition to another 15 cars with up and coming drivers behind the wheel.

Photographers have managed to snap some pictures of BMW’s upcoming X5 hybrid, all within days of spotting prototypes of the X6 hybrid in California’s Death Valley. The images depict an X5 with an oversized bulge located on the bonnet, likely to be containing test equipment for the new two-mode hybrid system the car will feature. A similar bump was seen on the previous X6 hybrid prototype but was significantly smaller, signifying that it could be closer to production than its X5 sibling.

The previous generation M3 had a short but dominant history in the American Le Mans Series. Competing in the 2001 season with a 4.0-liter V8, the M3 GTR decimated the GT (now GT2) class. Porsche cried foul, citing a lack of an "authentic" V8-powered M3 production car. Despite a small run of V8 M3s to satisfy regulations, the ALMS changed the rules so that BMW had to either produce 1000 road cars or face weight and intake restrictions.

BMW has gone to great lengths to disguise its new 5-Series based BMW PAS, completely re-skinning the car to hide its true lines. The initial digital impression certainly relies upon some significant artistic freedom, although you can certainly expect to see a significant resemblance to the new 5-Series along with a similar if not identical engine line-up.

The current BMW X3 will soldier on for at least the next few years until the arrival of an all-new model towards the end of the decade. Nonetheless, these are the very first spy-shots of Munich’s compact SUV, snapped undergoing road tests outside the Nürburgring.

The 2009 BMW 3-series will be revealed in all its facelifted glory at the Paris Motor Show and sales will begin across North America this October. The only discernible differences up front are a new fascia that apes the recently unveiled 7-series, new headlamps with "altered graphics," a contoured hood and modified mirror housings. Out back, the subtle changes continue, with a new taillight design that integrates more cleanly into the trunk lid and a reworked bumper that will join a one-inch wider track on high end version of the 3-series.

Boy howdy does that camouflage make it difficult to suss out what's underneath! BMW's cooking up a new X3, expected to drop in 2011, and the changes don't look to be huge. The smallest SAV – BMW's acronym for Stupid Ass Sports Activity Vehicle – will get rhinoplasty to bring some Concept CS cues to the X3.
