At the beginning of June, Motor Werks Cadillac of Barrington was notified that its General Motors dealer relationship was being terminated. Despite Motor Werks appeal of the termination, GM, presently in bankruptcy, stuck to its original decision to end its relationship with Motor Werks through a wind-down agreement.

Chevrolet has been building pickup trucks longer than most of its competitors have been in existence. While the Silverado name started in 1975 as a trim package on the C/K pickups, it didn’t become the official name until a full redesign in 1999. Redesigned in 2007, the Silverado got a more aggressive and aerodynamic look and continues to provide enough power to haul just about anything with either the half-ton model or the Silverado HD. With an all-new two-mode hybrid thrown into the mix, the Silverado looks to take the best-selling crown away from its blue-oval competitor.

We wonder what will happen to the Corvette in the new future, and we have mixed emotions about it. The Corvette is a car we didn't like very much in the beginning (remember, the original Ford Thunderbirds were faster than Corvettes), but it became a car with a storied history. Unfortunately, most of that history is probably lost on the majority of the Corvette owners.

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. The old saying comes to mind as Mustang fans have to take a close hard look at the new competition from Chevrolet arriving at dealers this week. It goes without saying that the 2010 Camaro SS with its 400+hp 6.2 liter V8 is an attractive set of specifications as compared to the 2010 Mustang GT's carry over 4.6 with 315hp. For top bidding, the 2010 Mustang can be had with a 540hp DOHC supercharged powerhouse in the Shelby GT-500 that no Camaro will be able to match while the PC Police at the Obama White House run GM. Game point for Ford.

Since its first showing as a concept, the Camaro has wowed onlookers. A week with the road-going version proved that nothing has changed. Getting gas was a protracted chore because of the interest. More surprising was that the obvious lust in the eye of the beholders transcended the age barrier — young and old gravitated to the car in equal numbers. A little time in the new Camaro and it started to remind me of Jackie Gleason. He was a large man who happened to be extremely light on his feet. This sums up the Camaro. It is a big, heavy car (all 1,705 kilograms of it).

The Malibu nameplate first appeared for Chevrolet in 1964 as a trim level for the Chevelle and became a standalone model in 1978. The latest Malibu design has received praise from the moment it was introduced. Although the Malibu grew considerably in size with the new design, the new Malibu is one of the most efficient cars in its class. In between the peppy V-6 model and the hybrid, the Malibu LTZ is the first in its class to combine a four-cylinder engine and six-speed automatic transmission for improved fuel economy.

At one time, trucks were thought of only as work vehicles for those who lived on farms, owned horses, worked construction or towed boats. That’s no longer the case, as trucks have long since been mainstreamed and are the best-selling vehicles in America each year.
