Citroen today announces the C3 Picasso, a supermini-MPV it claims has the innovative magic of the company’s DS masterpiece, the ‘useful and beautiful’ approach of Apple’s iPhone and the unblinking practicality needed to wound the market-leading Vauxhall/Opel Meriva. The spacious, eye-catching MPV goes on UK sale in summer 2009. It’s based on the next-generation C3 supermini, and runs four-cylinder engines turning the front wheels. Expect a starting price just under £11,000.

In the past, diesel-powered cars have never really found their place in Australia. Both the cars and the fuel which they ran on were more expensive than the petrol alternative - a trend which has usually been reversed in overseas markets.

There's a new work of art on the drawing board at Citroen. The French manufacturer is putting the finishing touches to a replacement for the top-selling Picasso – based on the stunning C-SportLounge concept.
Codenamed the B-81, the MPV is aiming to break new ground in the people carrier sector, rivalling the Ford S-MAX for both size and space.

Citroen’s quirky supermini cabrio has gone under the knife, and these are the first official pictures. At the front of the revised C3 Pluriel, the brand’s famous badge features larger chevrons than before, while new smoked headlamp lenses and darker indicators have also been added. The bumper now includes a large mesh air intake, and the rear light clusters get a black background to replace the silver trim that was used on the outgoing car.

For value for money, it’s hard to beat the new Citroen C5. The French firm has announced that prices will start at less than £16,000. Bosses have high hopes that the latest model – on sale at the start of April – will rekindle Britain’s love affair with big Citroens, which was dampened by the lacklustre original.

Here’s an MPV with attitude! This is Citroen’s rugged Berlingo Multispace XTR. We’ve already brought you pictures of the standard car, which will be launched at Geneva this week, but this model has a more adventurous look. The only mechanical change is the increased ride height, which will be useful over rough road surfaces. Cosmetically, the XTR gains a bold two-tone bumper and grille, black plastic bodykit and chunky rubbing strips along its flanks. Inside, the new Berlingo has a roomier interior than its predecessor. The sense of space is helped by using as much glass as possible, including a panoramic sunroof. Among the innovative stowage solutions are aircraft-style overhead compartments, which are big enough to allow long items such as skis to be loaded up.
