Spies have caught a sleek new sedan doing the rounds in Korea. Word is that it's codenamed VG, will be arriving in '09, and will be "closely related to" the Hyundai Azera. While there is no word on engines yet, the car is expected to be front-wheel-drive. That doesn't exactly bode well for Kia's brief of being the sporty brand -- so sayeth Hyundai -- but the car is supposed to be "near luxury" and appears to have some all right lines, even under the camo.

Autoblog writer and videographer extraordinaire, the ShunkMaster, is currently en-route to Pennsylvania with his wife and kids for the long holiday weekend, but that doesn't mean he's turned off his obsession for all things automotive. As he passed through the outskirts of Motown, the not uncommon sight of a camo-covered car appeared on the horizon. Chris's iPhone-wielding wife, Sara, snapped off a few pics of the cloaked mule, and being in the Dearborn area, the first obvious thought was a prototype Fiesta sedan. However, closer inspection revealed that it's the Kia Forte that was officially announced yesterday. The Spectra replacement proved to be a handsome little sedan that wears the Kia Koup clothes well.

The Kia Spectra will be replaced with an all new model next year, and for the first time in its history Kia will offer a coupe variant in its range. The near production form of the KOUP Concept from this year's New York Auto Show always pointed towards a production version in the not too distant future, and today those suspicions have been confirmed after Lee Hyun-soon, president of Hyundai-Kia Motors' R&D division confirmed the coupe.

Prototypes for Kia’s replacement for the aging Spectra sedan have been spotted cold-weather testing in recent months and now we have the first official image of the upcoming car. Set to go on sale next year as a 2010 model, the new Spectra sedan replaces a model that was last updated in 2005 and could come in both sedan and hatchback forms. The information accompanying the teaser images indicates the car is called the Forte.

You walk into your local Citroen dealer looking for an ideal buy, you take a look around at the latest models on display but nothing takes your fancy and as you go to walk out the sales person asks "Can I help you with anything". A usual response would either be "no, thanks" or "just looking thanks", but we suspect that if the lady you see before you asks the same question we are sure the words "hell yeah" may come out of your mouth before your brain catches up and realises what you have said.

The European photographers snapped this new Korean car in the Swiss Alps a few days ago but admittedly had no clue as to what the car could actually be. The registration and camouflage clearly said “Hyundai” or “Kia” – but which model? Not to worry – we found out at last! A former Hyundai designer told us this: “I’m actually fairly certain that this isn’t the next [Kia] Picanto. It’s hard to tell scale from the pictures, but the car looks to upmarket to be a Picanto. It seems to have a panorama roof plus five-lug wheels that Kia or Hyundai never use on vehicles that small!”

At a ceremony in Seoul, Korea on Friday, TÜV gave Kia DFE (Design for Environment) and a LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) certificates for the way Kia is building the cee'd in Zilina, Slovakia.

Kia has planted a bigger diesel in its Cee’d. The Korean company is making the 2.0-litre CRDi oil-burner from the Pro_cee’d Sport available across its family car line-up.

The Pro_cee’d, with its stiffer chassis over the five-door, handles well. Steering is nicely weighted, offers reasonable feedback and turns the car in precisely, with strong grip. It’s not quite as sure-footed and confidence-inspiring as the class best, but body control is good. Ride quality does suffer a little over the five-door, though. Petrol engines are a little average but the 1.6-litre CRDi turbodiesel is very strong. It’s preferable to the 2.0-litre, which, while quiet enough on the move, can clatter at low revs and never feels particularly quick. The gearchange has a light touch but it’s long in throw.

It's already got the KEE, and now Kia is ready to unlock its potential and fly the KOUP! These are the first pictures of the exciting coupe that brings a dash of style the Korean firm's line-up. The sleek KOUP follows the striking KEE concept from last year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, and features the firm’s trademark H-pattern grille. Narrow wraparound headlamps and a smart air intake at the front also help to make it the sportiest Kia yet.
