Here's the four wheeled bearded lady of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, courtesy of Kahn Design and (God help us) Cosworth. To us, spending tens of thousands of dollars on a vehicle, then affixing a bodykit to it that would make an '88 Grand Am sneer seems a bit nonsensical. Then again, being of means doesn't always translate into having sense. As if that wasn't enough, even Cosworth hasn't coaxed much out of this abomination. The 3.6-liter diesel V8 gets an extra 30 horsepower, for an even 300.

The Land Rover Defender is already a pretty badass vehicle. So how do you make a no-frills, no-nonsense off-roader even more badass? Why, add more wheels, of course! That's the approach taken by Land Rover Malaysia and Sasbilt Technologies Malaysia, which together built the behemoth you see above. While we've seen more than our fair share of stretched Range Rovers and Hummers, this concept truck actually has a purpose beyond prom night.

The UK government has offered Jaguar-Land Rover funding in order to speed up the development of emissions reducing technologies. The funding comes from the Technology Strategy Board, which is spending around £23 million ($45 million) on 16 various low carbon projects ranging across a field of industries and represents a little under half of the projects’ total worth.

Earlier today we saw images of a prototype Discovery 3 SUV fitted with Land Rover’s new 5.0L V8 engine. Now we have images of the 2009 facelifted Range Rover Sport, which is rumored to be packing a supercharged version of the new V8 developing upwards of 500hp and 650Nm of torque.

Yesterday's big news that Land Rover and Jaguar were sold to Tata Motors give us a chance to talk Land Rover in terms of CO2 emissions. Jaguar we'll just ignore for now, because Land Rover is a much more interesting case. We've ooohed and aaahed at the nice LRX concept, which would emit just 120 grams of CO2 per kilometer should it ever make it out of the Auto Show circuit, but in general Land Rover isn't exactly a clean car company. Automotive News Europe (subs req'd) found that Land Rover's sales are up dramatically in the last few years and the company is apparently "solidly profitable" (Jaguar's in trouble here).

Check out Land Rover’s latest stunning show car – the LRX black and silver. Following on from the popular baby-Freelander concept revealed at the Detroit Motor Show in January, the re-modelled Geneva Motor Show star is designed to show just how good the little Landie can look with a range of colours and accessories. Powered by a 2.0-litre turbodiesel hybrid powerplant, Land Rover claims the LRX is capable of 60mpg fuel economy with emissions of 120g/km The black and silver model will be unveiled at the first Geneva show press day tomorrow alongside the existing white LRX.

In this world of flawless Lexus quality and so many new cars hitting the roads that are light years ahead in reliability compared to their past brethren, it's getting really hard to find an UN-reliable vehicle. Almost everything being made today is pretty darn good. It HAS to be or its game over. But over the years there have been some REAL beauties out there when it came to just pure unadulterated CRAP. So we would like to know, in your opinion, what is the MOST unreliable car you, your friends or your family have ever encountered?

Marking a major shift in product strategy prompted by a change in consumer driving habits as well as the prospect of tougher environmental regulations worldwide, the Ford Motor Co. unit will introduce a new car-based concept vehicle at the 2008 North American International Auto Show. It is more compact, lighter and "sustainable" than anything the venerable off-road specialist has engineered and built before.
The 3-door LRX pushes Land Rover into new territory -- pint-sized SUVs that are more car-like than truck-like.
