Design guru Gordon Murray has released details of his latest project. And it’s the complete opposite of his most famous work – the record-breaking McLaren F1 supercar. Codenamed the T25, the city car is the first model to be developed by his self-titled design company, and the focus here is on lightweight and low emissions.

It's hard not to follow a story like the veritable fleet of new supercars set to follow the controversial Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. The supercar came out of the partnership between Benz and McLaren in Formula One, but while the racing cars have been highly competitive, the SLR has been less so. As a result, Mercedes and McLaren are going their own separate ways for the next generation of high-performance exotica.

If you want to save money, why not save space at the same time. And save even more money. 90-95% of all cars normally carry just one person. So, why don't we slim down our mode of transportation that is showing signs of becoming obese? Sleek, lightweight vehicles have many advantages: better maneuverability, fuel economy, lower emissions and the ability to use the existing infrastructure more efficiently.

Ex-McLaren designer, Jim Dowle, is working on a new British sports car with hopes of having a running prototype within the next 18 months. Jim Dowle previously worked under Gordon Murray in the design and development of both the F1 road car and the SLR. The car, which is being described as a competitor to the Lotus Exige, will have a number of engine options including a mid-mounted 200 horsepower motor and will weigh 870kg (1914 pounds). Dowle says he is more focused on making the car fun to drive rather than producing a car that’s built for outright line speed.
